First Ever Trans Pride Kent to Take Place in Canterbury

On Saturday 28 March 2026, Kent will host its first ever Trans Pride Kent, a landmark community event celebrating transgender, non-binary and gender-diverse people across the region. The historic gathering will take place at Westgate Hall in Canterbury, bringing together members of the LGBTQ+ community, allies, organisations, and activists for a day focused on visibility, celebration, and support.

A Historic First for Kent

Trans Pride Kent marks an important milestone for LGBTQ+ communities in the county. While Kent already hosts several Pride celebrations, including Pride Canterbury, this will be the first Pride event in the area dedicated specifically to transgender, non-binary, and gender-nonconforming people.

The event is designed to celebrate and uplift trans communities while also creating a safe and inclusive space for connection, education, and empowerment. Organisers describe it as a grassroots pride that aims to bring together community services, performers, activists, and local organisations.

What to Expect on the Day

Running from 10:00am to 4:00pm, the event will feature a range of activities and community-focused opportunities.

Attendees can expect:

  • Community and support service stalls

  • Guest speakers and panel discussions

  • Live performances and entertainment

  • LGBTQ+ organisations and advocacy groups

  • Opportunities to network and connect with local support services

The event aims to highlight the resources available to transgender and gender-diverse people across Kent while creating a vibrant atmosphere of celebration and solidarity.

A Grassroots Community Pride

Trans Pride Kent has been developed as a community-led initiative, rooted in grassroots organising. Beyond the main venue activities, the event also intends to create safe spaces across the city through a fringe-style programme supported by LGBTQ+-friendly venues and organisations.

By building partnerships with community groups and activists, organisers hope to strengthen local networks that support trans and non-binary people throughout the region.

Visibility and Community Support

Events like Trans Pride Kent play an important role in increasing visibility and fostering acceptance. Across the UK, trans-focused Pride events have grown in size and influence in recent years as communities continue advocating for equality and representation.

Trans Pride Kent aims to bring that same energy and solidarity to the South East, creating a space where people can celebrate identity, share experiences, and build community.

A Pride for Everyone

Although centred on transgender and non-binary voices, the event is open to the wider LGBTQ+ community and allies who want to show support and stand in solidarity. Tickets for the event are free, though registration is required due to limited capacity.

For many attendees, the day will represent more than just a celebration — it will be a moment of recognition, belonging, and community building.

Looking Ahead

As the first event of its kind in the county, Trans Pride Kent has the potential to become a significant annual moment for LGBTQ+ people in the region. With increasing visibility and community support, organisers hope this inaugural celebration will lay the foundation for future events and continued advocacy.

On 28 March 2026, Canterbury will become a place where pride, resilience, and community come together — marking the beginning of a new chapter for trans visibility in Kent.
